Chris & Shawna’s Wedding | Sneak Peek

July 27th, 2010

Here are a couple pictures from Chris and Shawna’s wedding this past Saturday.  It was really tough for me to pick just two for this sneak peek.  I can’t wait to post the full day!

Natasha & Mark’s Calgary Wedding

July 8th, 2010

I’ve been staying up late and working crazy hours putting together this post!  Well that’s actually a slight exaggeration…I’m normally up late, but I’ve worked hard and I’m proud to get this post up for all to see!   Natasha told me that she can’t sleep with the anticipation of seeing these images.  Is that a slight exaggeration?  Maybe, but I kind of believe her!

The day started with the ladies getting their hair done by Amber and the other awesome stylists at Chatters Salon in Mckenzie Towne.   After the hair it was time for make-up back at the house which was done by Lindsey Wood.  This was the second wedding this year that I’ve shot that Lindsey did the makeup for.

Natasha’s Grandpa passed away this past February.  As a truly cool way of remembering him on her wedding day, Natasha had his blue handkerchief sewn into her dress.  Such a nice idea!  I’ll be sure to post a picture:)  If you missed the sneak peek that I posted last week, take a look at one of my favorite pictures from the day.  I was in the right place at the right time when her dad (who’s name is also Mark) saw his daughter for the first time all done up and in her dress.   If your wondering about his uniform, her dad Mark is the Strathmore Rural Fire Chief.

The 260 guests at the reception were treated to an amazing meal prepared by the staff at the Polish Canadian Cultural Centre.  The Centre looked beautiful  with all  the lighting and decorations that were done by Fusion Bollywood. Mark had a lot of family that had come to Calgary for the wedding.  Some came from as far away as India, California and Texas.  I think all of them will remember this cool wedding!

Thank you Mark and Natasha for allowing me to document your day.  I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness together!  I know a wedding day can be a bit of a blur for the bride and groom. With the fast pace and all that is going on, it’s often hard to see your day as your guests would see it.  I hope these images help take you back to those special moments.

Thanks also to my super assistant for the day, my good friend Sarah Pukin.

Natasha & Mark [Sneak Peek]

June 30th, 2010

This past Saturday Natasha and Mark were married!!!  I’ll be doing a full post of the wedding next week, but I wanted to put up a little teaser.

Natasha asked me today if I could put up the picture of her Dad’s first look.   The one that that I had used in the same day slideshow that was played at the reception.  I love this image too!

Congratulations again you two!  I can’t wait to show you the rest :)

Erin & Stewart E-Session

June 15th, 2010

After a wet week full of rain, I was pretty stoked when we got some nice weather on Friday afternoon. Erin & Stewart booked with me back in December and we actually had never met until this session.  They live in Grand Prairie and after only a few emails and a chat over the phone, thankfully they trusted me enough to photograph their big day! Thank you guys!!  I was really hoping we weren’t going to have to postpone their engagement session because of the weather a second time.  It can be pretty tricky when they are only in town for the weekend and we are at the mercy of the Alberta weather. After  a few sprinkles of rain,  the weather cleared just in time for our session.  Thanks for the fun afternoon Erin & Stewart!  I hope you two had as much fun as I did.  I hope you both love the pictures!

Life is about to get crazy for these two because they just bought a house in Calgary and take possession  just in time for their August, Calgary wedding.

Graduation! – Brandon

June 9th, 2010

Let me congratulate Brandon on his high school  graduation!  Brandon’s Dad Peter phoned me last week and asked if I would be available to shoot some pictures for Brandon’s Grad. Of Course!  I met Peter, who owns Magical Music Dj’s at a wedding I shot last fall. We talked a great deal about music and we hit it off as I was once a DJ for 7 or so years . I’m glad he kept my card!  Brides & Grooms looking for one of the best in the business, with 20 years experience…I recommend you give him a call and book him.

Brandon graduated from a Virtual school.  I thought this was totally cool but I don’t think his Mom Maria thought it was funny when I suggested we could stick with that theme and take the pictures via webcam.  Of course I was only joking Maria!

We all whipped over to Spruce Meadows near their house and Brandon drove  his  Honda CRX over for some shots.  You will always remember your first car.  I remember mine because it broke down and I had to sell it before I could even drive it.  But my next car was very similar to Brandon’s..a Honda Civic hatch back.  That was a fun little car and I’m sure Brandon’s is no different.

Brandon’s going to be turning 18 years old right away…..I wonder if he knows the fun and memories he’s going  to have over the next few years.  I wish I was 18 again!

Here is a hand full of pics from Friday’s session

Tania & Jeremy Married!

June 3rd, 2010

I’ve been so excited to get this wedding posted.  This was such an awesome wedding party and I’m so lucky to do what I do!  The Beavers looked great!  Not the furry munch on trees beavers, but the couple.  See Jeremy’s last name is Cleveland, which was shortened to Clever, which led to Beaver.  Now Tania has been coined “Mrs. Beaver” by their friends.

Tania & Jeremy met for a first look at the Ranche in Fish Creek before heading to the ceremony.  We were on a tight schedule  and couldn’t stay long, but we were able to capture some special pre ceremony moments as Jeremy had his first look at his beautiful bride.

The wedding was held at the Al Azhar Shrine centre in Calgary and it easily held the roughly 240 guest that were their to be a part of this cool wedding….and it was cool! The ceremony was originally going to be outside by the lake behind the centre, but the cold weather moved it indoors.  The reception was pretty lively and I don’t think anyone will forget the bestman speach! I can’t repeat any of it, but I couldn’t stop myself  laughing.

Thank you both for allowing me to be a part of that special day and trusting me enough to document it for you.  I know this is the beginning of an amazing partnership between you both and long, happy future together.  I hope you guys had had an amazing time on your honeymoon in Hawaii.

Tania & Jeremy’s wedding Sneak Peek

May 13th, 2010

WOW I didn’t realize it had been so long since I had blogged last.  I have lots to blog over the next few weeks and I’m going to start it off with a bit of a teaser form Tania and Jeremy’s wedding this past weekend.  I’ll save all the details for the full post coming up next week.  But I can tell you this was one super cool wedding!!! I’m so honored that I had the opportunity to be a part of it.  Can’t wait to post it in full.

Paul & Jenn Engaged

February 1st, 2010

I’ve known Paul since the first day of grade eight at Acadia Jr. High in Winnipeg.  Who ever put us in the same class that year made a mistake!  Embarrassing enough, I think the two of us got kicked out of class that year more times then I can remember.  If one got kicked out, the other one would make a point of getting kicked out just so we could hang out in the hall together.  there’s way too many stories from over the years and I think I’m going to save  them for the wedding…Muahahaa!  We grew up together, got into everything together and  amazingly enough, we currently live on acreages only four minutes  apart.

I’ll be the best man at Paul & Jenn’s  wedding in May so I won’t be shooting the day.   Our friend, the amazingly talented Johnny Tran of JT Images will be shooting their wedding.

A few weekends ago  we headed out to a spot about 10 minutes from home looking for an adventure and some pictures for their invitations  and guest book.  We found this abandon homestead with an amazing old barn! it was an awesome find and cool place  to shoot.  We had just as much  fun putting the camera down and exploring the differnt buildings and the old house.  I need to get back there and take some pictures of the buildings and the three hole open bench in the outhouse.  I mean really?  Who want’s to use the outhouse with two people sitting on each side of you? Crazy! haha

Congratulations you two! And I’ve just come up with the perfect wedding gift to build for your acreage :)

The Page Family……minus Rob?

January 22nd, 2010

These guys are no strangers to the blog and you may recognize them from the “Little Bow” post back in the summer.  I first took pictures of Jack back when he was just a baby and this past summer  Alison asked if I was available to take pictures of the family. “Of Course!!”  You guys are Awesome!  The trick was to line up all of our schedules and get it done before the start of the harvest season when Rob would be out in the fields.  That was the plan anyway….and it sounded easy enough.  Ha ha boy were we wrong!  Between kids getting banged up, vacations,  works schedules and  snow storms ,  it was starting to seem like these pictures were never going to happen.

Well last Friday we made it happen and the day was looking great!  When I got to the farm, Rob was working in the shop and in his work clothes so we decided turned this into a kids session.   Hannah is so natural in front of the camera.  She followed my instructions like a pro!  Which is actually really amazing because most of  my wedding couples get confused by my crazy posing directions.  Any of them reading this will agree.  It’s not usually their fault either, mostly my crumby articulation..haha

I cant believe how fast Jack is growing up. He was  constantly on the move and I  got a portion of my daily exercise  chasing him around.  I’m so thrilled with the pictures I got.

Hope you guys love them!

Olympic Torch Visits Town

January 20th, 2010

The last time I saw the Olympic torch I was 12 years old.  I took the C-train down to Heritage drive in Calgary. It was the morning of the opening ceremonies, as the torch made it’s way around the city before lighting the  cauldron at the opening ceremonies of the 88 winter Olympics later that afternoon.  I took along my nifty yellow point & shoot camera and struggled to see over the taller crowd to get the  few pictures of the flame as it passed.  I remember rushing home after and setting the VCR so I didn’t miss the start of of the opening ceremonies.

22 years later I had the opportunity  to watch the flame pass by me again, this time in Strathmore, AB.  A little bit taller and armed with two professional DSLR cameras this time around….getting the shots was a lot easier.  I ended up running pretty much the whole route trying to stay a head of the torch as I got the shot’s I wanted.  The streets were packed with people.  I really couldn’t believe how many people came out to wave their Canadian flags and yell “Go Canada Go!”

I managed to find those pictures I took back in 1988.  I thought it would be cool to start this post off with one of them.
